Active play between long timers
Riftbreak is a contained tactical mode with up to 3 renewable Echo Charges. One charge returns every 480 minutes.
Runs do not spend mana, courage, morale, HP, or Ryo and remain available during travel and medical recovery. Run HP exists only inside the expedition.
Read, choose, and draft
- 01Read the enemy tell
Each panel describes a weakness. Force, Finesse, and Resonance use different permanent stats, gear, temporary boons, and Legacy ranks.
- 02Review the disclosed chance
Favored, Steady, Volatile, and Desperate labels explain the risk before you commit.
- 03Draft one boon
After normal encounters, choose one of three temporary powers. Corrupted boons offer stronger benefits with visible drawbacks.
- 04Build Awakening Momentum
Successful reads strengthen later scoring and may create an anime-style high-momentum finish.
- 05Extract or face the nemesis
After meaningful progress, secure a smaller Fragment reward or continue toward the world-specific boss.
Failure, mercy, and memory
- A collapsed run preserves part of its Echo Fragments and never destroys permanent equipment or core wealth.
- Repeated boss collapses create a small visible mercy bonus. The bonus resets when that nemesis is defeated.
- The local story handler accompanies the run and records important victories and setbacks in relationship memory.
- Winning a hidden fourth-room encounter rescues that reality's unique Riftling. The sixteen collectible familiars appear in the Rift Codex and inside owned residences, but grant no combat or economic power.
- Encounters, temporary boons, hidden rooms, world victories, and nemeses become permanent Codex discoveries.
- Every reality has a distinct operation, premise, hidden panel, and named final rival.
Legacy and competition
Vanguard, Phantom, and Oracle provide five contained mastery ranks each. Their costs rise from 50 to 1,800 Echo Fragments per rank, making complete mastery a long-term collection goal rather than a weekend unlock.
The scoreboard records best expedition score, victories, and victory chain for prestige only. Rank never grants Ryo, combat power, or market advantage.
